Project Overview
Several years ago I had the pleasure of spending a lot of time riding around in a golf cart, photographing the Farm Neck golf course for their membership book. This was a dream project. Since I live in Oak Bluffs, less than a half mile from the golf course, I was able to head right over at a moment's notice. If I saw some dramatic clouds moving close, in fifteen minutes time I could be in the golf cart, on the green, with camera gear stashed in the spot normally reserved for clubs. Sometimes, after a still, chilly night in spring or fall, I would arrive at Farm Neck in the dark, and navigate my way around the course with a flashlight to reach a particular green by dawn. Early morning fog proved a challenge for early-rising golfers, but produced some magical images and a happy photographer! The pictures for the membership book were all shot on Fujichrome Velvia film with my Pentax 6x7. Surprisingly enough, I did not take up golf while working on this project.
