Workshop Description
In the fall of 2009, the Santa Fe Workshops presents its ninth annual series of one-week photography workshops in the historic town of San Miguel de Allende. Alison will be joining a team of veteran instructors to teach for a week in this beautiful Mexican town.
San Miguel is one of Mexico’s most charming colonial towns, with narrow, serpentine, cobblestone streets that wind through 16th- and 17th-century stone buildings. Rich in culture, heritage, holidays, and fiestas, San Miguel is a National Historic Landmark, and as such, no new buildings can be constructed in the downtown area. It has long been a center for the arts and home to an international community of artists, writers, and sculptors. San Miguel has the feel of a small European city. Its people are friendly and warm, and it is a safe town where strolling its beautiful streets at night is a local tradition.
The fall season in San Miguel offers the perfect climate for photographing. The rainy season has ended, the skies are royal blue, daytime temperatures average 60 to 70 degrees, and the evenings are crisp. The town sits at an altitude of 6,400 feet, which keeps the humidity low and the sunset views unobstructed.
